Mental Health Skills for Pediatric Primary Care: A Maryland BHIPP CME Event*

At any given time, one in five children may have a mental health disorder. Family physicians and pediatricians are an important resource for parents and families to discuss their child's emotional development and mental health. Maryland Behavioral Health Integration in Pediatric Primary Care (BHIPP) aims to build the skills of primary care providers to identify and manage some of the most common mental health concerns. In partnership with Anne Arundel County Mental Health Agency, Inc., BHIPP is offering this free CME training talk for primary care providers in the Anne Arundel and surrounding communities.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

• Uncover and clarify mental health needs during regular visits
• Positively encourage patients and their families and promote family resiliency
• Give advice about mental health problems (including making referrals) that will be accepted and followed

Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Audience: Family physicians, pediatricians, nurses, physician assistants, school-based health providers, and other primary care health care professionals engaged in pediatric clinical practice throughout the state of Maryland
